Coatings for extreme conditions
After cold spraying of a coating, it may be necessary to provide a thermal follow up treatment. This way the coating melts (fusing). So that it obtains an extra feature, that is to say becomes impact-resistant. This type of coatings is meant for extreme conditions, such as in the dredging and oil industry. Also chemical resistance can be acquired through this.
Considering the high temperature of up to 1,200°C of the work piece, it is required to account for geometrical distortions, which could possibly occur.
