By means of autogenous processes, various types of topcoats can be obtained. Here, depending on the application, pure carbide parts can be embedded in melt-in carbide containing coatings. Pure widia segments and synthetic diamonds can be fixed to the substrate with silver, comparable with soldering. In addition, the surrounding zones are treated against erosion. This way one prevents the wearing out of the silver and the breaking out of the diamonds, before they can wear.
